For over 15 years, I have been handcrafting Resonator guitars in my Nelson, New Zealand workshop and delivering them to guitarist around the world, New Zealand USA, Japan, Australia, UK, Canada.
I began building Resonator guitars after learning some slide blues tunes and falling in love with the resonator sound I was hearing in those old recordings. There were no Resonator guitars in the shops so I decided to build my own. I am a engineer and with the help of a guitar builder I set about trying to build something I've only seen in pictures. After a year of experiment I had built a very unique guitar which was held together with rivits and had a great sound.
With the support of local musicians I kept on building and now 15 years later produce a small number of instruments a year.
.
I prefer to build a small number of the highest quality guitars than a larger number of lesser quality.
When I'm not building or playing guitar, I create Copper Art which I sell through local galleries. I also like to ride my 1939 Harly Davison, Snow board, Surf, and play Golf.
